World Class Lures
Fishing in our little piece of Heaven has long been a tradition for anyone who loves wetting a line. Back in the late 1940's, an avid Fisherman named Dennis Melvin Croft, Jr or "Junior" and his buddy John Barefield developed, patented and sold a 3 part fishing lure named the "Humpty Dumpty", it was known in these parts and others for it's ability to get those "Shellcrackers". In 1949 they applied for a patent on the Lure based on their Company, Blue Spring Bait Company (Blue Springs is a huge spring near Marianna FL that feeds into the Chipola at Merritt's Mill Pond), and in 1952 a patent was given.
The patent design is on the back of this memorial tee along with a rendition of the "Hump Dump" as it was sometimes called. The enterprise went on producing till the mid 50's. The lures are very rare and a Florida Treasure for any collector.
